GILBERT
L. HOFFER, PHD
Since 1974,
Dr. Hoffer has honed his professional skills in the areas of executive
selection and development by working with very talented individuals
and senior executives in nearly every functional discipline and
industry. His clients have ranged from start-ups to global corporations.
He rapidly establishes
rapport and provides insightful advice and counsel to people with
varied backgrounds, expertise and levels of responsibility. Dr.
Hoffer tailors his approach to the person and the reasons prompting
a coaching relationship. In the process, he essentially helps his
clients to focus on facing and appropriately dealing with the gap
between the present and a more desired future by increasing self
knowledge and interpersonal perceptiveness, developing needed skills
and formulating perspectives that effectively address the alignment
needs of the organization. He expertly interprets behavioral data,
encourages the formulation and self-monitoring of action plans,
and emphasizes the on-going need to solicit and incorporate constructive
feedback from appropriate sources.
His expertise
is derived from continuing professional development and extensive
executive assessment, training, consulting and coaching activities,
which have included financial service institutions such as Chase,
Cigna, Citicorp/Citibank, Dean Witter, E. F. Hutton, European American
Bank, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Guarantee, Philadelphia National Bank,
and the Swiss Bank. Recently, he was engaged for over a year in
a system wide performance management and professional development
coaching assignment for a major global financial services organization.
Dr. Hoffer is
the founder and president of PsyCor, Inc., a firm that advises a
wide range of executives on matters of individual and team effectiveness
where psychological insight and an understanding of organizational
needs and development processes can be helpful. In addition to executive
assessment and coaching the firm also conducts employee research
and facilitates leadership team development activities.
Prior to establishing
his firm in 1976, he was a Staff Psychologist for the Industrial
Services Division of The Psychological Corporation, an Officer in
the United States Air Force, and a Research Consultant to the Army
Research Institute.
Dr. Hoffer earned
his Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University, his M.A. from
Bucknell University and his B.A. from Wheaton College. He is a licensed
psychologist, a member of the American Psychological Association
and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He
is also an adjunct faculty member of LaSalle University, where he
teaches "Assessment in Organizational Settings" to graduate
students in psychology.
